Dear First Grade Families,
Welcome to week 3 of our online work and week 4 of the quarantine.
Two new important things to note:
Per state guidelines, we will be honoring April vacation. So there will be no work or school meetings the week of April 20-24.
Per state guidelines, all work will continue to be review until April 13 to ensure equity for children who do not yet have the resources for remote learning.
I have updated the website for this week, April 6-April 10. I will not change it again until Sunday, April 12--except for the morning message. Every weekday I will post a new morning message you can read to your child.
Some routines have changed and some have stayed the same. Look through each tab for more details.
Starting this week, I will introduce one new online platform each week. I don't want to overwhelm you with a ton of new resources. This week's is called Dreambox and it is a great math website for practice. I used my son as a guinea pig and he loves it. He thinks it is a video game! You will have to sign up for a free account. Here is the link. Just click parent and the rest should be easy. I also included the link in the math tab.
As always, do what works best for you. If you don't get to something, that is okay. Break it up into small chunks so it is fun and manageable.
If your child works with a special education teacher (Whitney or Meg) or an academic support teacher (Ms. Kristie or Mrs. Oliver) you may get additional work from them. You DO NOT need to do everything on my website and the work they send you. You can do their work INSTEAD of mine.
On Friday morning (April 10) at 9:30, we will have a zoom meeting so we can all see each other. I will send a reminder about this on Thursday.
Email me with any questions or concerns. I want to help! I am available.
My goal for you as parents and caregivers is that you are not stressed by this work.
